MICHAEL KHUN

German-born pianist Michael Kuhn began his musical career by taking piano lessons from his father and then from the russian pianist L. Straub-Borsunov. He studied at the conservatory of Berlin and later joined Professor Günter Reinhold in Karlsruhe where he graduated with distinction.

He has attended master classes of Lew Vlasenko, Peter Feuchtwanger and Dinorah Varsi.

Kuhn won first prizes at the German federal competition “Jugend musiziert” and recieved many honors and grants for “outstanding artistic achievements” from industry and commerce in Basel, from the “International Chopin Music Festival” in El Paso and from the European Piano Teachers Association.

 

He is very versatile and has done numerous TV, radio and live recordings, as well as compact disc productions.

 

He teaches at the music school in Schönaich and at the “International Academie of musical education” in Karlsruhe. At the university in Karlsruhe he had been an Associate Professor of Music. He is also a juror of various competitions.

 

He played a lot of concerts - both as a solist and as a chamber musician - in Germany.

His international debut came in 1991 with three concerts in Israel (Theatre of Jerusalem; Haifa and Nethanja). Then he started a brillant concert career, which lead him to France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Swisse and Luxembourg. He also toured through Mexico and the USA, with concerts in Los Alamos, Las Cruces, Juarez and Albuquerque and he was invited by the “International Chopin Society” for a recital in the concerthall of El Paso.

 

He played also with various orchestras piano concertos from Mozart, Beethoven, Tschaikowsky, Rachmaninoff, Gershwin, Grieg, Saint-Saëns and Moszkowsky.

 

In addition he gave master classes for pianists in Germany and at the “New Mexico State University” in the USA.
